Johnny Depp has taken a break from filming Whitey Bulger crime drama Black Mass to take part in secret recording sessions with Paul McCartney, Alice Cooper and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry.
Speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, guitarist Perry (63) said: “It’s the great ego leveller. I was in the studio with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp, playing guitar, and the three of us are looking at each other like, hey, we’re sitting here with Paul McCartney! And we’re all looking at each other like open-mouthed kids.

“At 72 he can still hit all those notes. However, the Aerosmith member refused to disclose any more details. “It’s a project that we’re keeping under wraps for now.”

Depp joined Aerosmith on stage at their gig in Mansfield, Massachusetts to play guitar last Wednesday night. He jammed along with the band’s 1974 hit, Train Kept a Rollin’, which he also played with the band at a 2012 show at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.

The actor is currently filming Black Mass, a new drama about Boston-Irish crime boss Whitey Bulger, which is set for release next year.

The movie also stars Adam Scott, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, Juno Temple, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, Sienna Miller and Peter Sarsgaard.

Johnny Depp surprised Aerosmith fans on Wednesday night when he strapped on his guitar to join the US rockers for their Boston gig.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star took time off from filming Whitey Bulger biopic Black Mass to showcase his musicianship at the Xfinity Center.

Frontman Steven Tyler, from Massachusetts, introduced his high profile guest to the crowd, exclaiming: “Yo! Bringing out on stage my good friend, Mr Johnny Depp!”

The 51-year-old actor played guitar and performed an extended solo on the band’s hit song “Train Kept A-Rollin”, from their 2012 album Music From Another Dimension!.

His fiancée Amber Heard was watching the gig backstage, reports suggest.

Depp features on the studio version of “Trains Kept A-Rollin” and joined Aerosmith for a series of live shows during the year of its release.

The time has come for some serious Pirates of the Caribbean movie without the ugly looking demonic monsters sailing in the sea.

While speaking with entertainment website the Collider, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said the upcoming pirates franchise will be a straight pirate movie without any Kraken creature.

To the question, “will there be any demonic monsters in Pirates 5?” Bruckheimer answered:
“No, no. I think we’re back to more of a straight pirates movie this time.”

When asked about the possibility of featuring monster-like creatures in the upcoming movie, he simply said “Not in the script I read recently.”

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, won millions of hearts with Johnny Depp’s flawless performance as captain Jack Sparrow.

But later, the movie went off track by featuring a slew of mythical sea monsters to grab major box office collections.

While many fans loved the progress of the fantasy adventure franchise, some argued that both Depp and the movies were losing their thrill and sheen with each sequel.

Walt Disney’s latest pirate sequel is slated for a 2016 premiere and is titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The movie will be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandburg. Rønning earned accolades for his Norwegian sea expedition movie Kon-Tiki.

Depp and Geoffrey Rush will reprise their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa respectively.

Depp will select the winner of “Chinese Dream” on Friday and will bring the young Chinese contestant on a trip to Hollywood.

Expectation is rising in China ahead of Friday’s finale of Chinese Dream, as Johnny Depp is gets ready to choose the lucky person who will come with him to Hollywood to live out their dream as the popular reality talent show draws to a close.

The show, shot in the elegant and wealthy eastern city of Hangzhou, centers around making ordinary people’s wishes come true and live performances, where audiences vote for a “Dreamer” who then goes on to the next show.
During his visit to China in April, Depp was asked why he had decided to take on the role of arbiter in the show, and he told local media it was because he can relate to people harboring big dreams: When he was young, he wanted to be a rock musician, and only did movies to pay the rent, he said.

Chinese Dream started life in 2011, based for the first two seasons on the BBC format Tonight’s the Night. In the third season, Zhejiang Satellite TV changed the format, and it is now in the seventh season.
Chinese Dream goes head-to-head with Dad, Where Are We Going? on Hunan TV and regularly beats that show in the ratings.

Depp is best known here as Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Carribbean franchise, which were huge hits in China, although the second part of the series, Dead Man’s Chest, was banned for its ghoulish and ghostly elements. He has a more cultish following among teenage girls for his role in Edward Scissorhands.

On a forum on the Sina Weibo service called “Depp, help me to realize my dream,” Zhiyu Xinlixue wrote: “It is a blessing from several lifetimes to be the disciple of Depp. Who will be the lucky one? Depp, if you can’t decide, you can take me.”

GIF wrote: “Ever since Edward Scissorhands, Depp is a man-god in the hearts of thousands of girls. I am so jealous that he will take a disciple and take him/her to Hollywood.”
